Apple Week
Thank you so much for helping to supply apples for this week! We have a ton of fun activities planned
On Wednesday we had a taste test with some of our apples.

Only a few students liked the Granny Smith, but they all loved the McIntosh, Red Delicious and Golden Delicious!
We took the extra apples and weighed them & put them in size order.

Today we made applesauce. Below are a few pictures of the kids and our yummy creation!

All of the kids in K2 had a great time. Thank you for sending in our apples!

 Math
In math we have been working on writing the numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. All of the students have been getting very good at putting numbers together and telling me the "whole". The language we use in class is, "3 and 2 make 5". On Tuesday I quickly introduced number sentences and many students were able to complete them on their own!  Using our math language, "___ and  ___ make ___". I will write the plus sign when kids say, "and" and I will write an equals sign when kids say, "make". However, I don't introduce the language "plus" and "equals" at this point in the year.
We also used our extra apples for adding. It was a great "addition" to our curriculum. Thank you!

Five Senses
Today (Tuesday) we completed our last lesson on our five senses! Today we learned about Helen Keller and the struggles she faced being deaf and blind. In groups, we drew pictures and wrote words to go on a timeline of her life. On Monday we learned about Ray Charles and listened to some of his most popular songs. On Friday we will have a quick assessment to end our unit
Next week we will start our Plant unit.
Get ready for evergreen and deciduous trees! ;)
